About the Event
Our speaker is Emily Putz from Nature Saskatchewan. She will be talking about Monarchs and the Stewards of Saskatchewan Banner Program.
Monarchs are one of the main focuses of the Stewards of Saskatchewan Banner Program, a voluntary habitat stewardship program that works with landowners to conserve habitat and monitor species-at-risk. Since 2023, the Monarch has been one of our primary focal species, where populations are tracked through our annual census and public tip-line. We also have launched the Milkweed Monitoring community project. This project aims to fill knowledge gaps of milkweed patch structure and use by monarchs within their prairie range, as well as to generate new interest and sighting reports by the public.
