Let’s explore Hidden Valley with a particular focus on later summer wildflowers and what we insects we find visiting them as well as looking for birds. We will walk around looking for wildflowers and any birds we find. You can find a trail map and description of the trails at Hidden Valley at https://www.natureregina.ca/hidden-valley. We will probably hike up the West Ridge and down the Deer Trail, but that plan could change depending on the day. The Ridgeway is about 1.7 kms in length. We will probably wander on the prairie a bit as well. The Ridgeway does involve climbing from the valley bottom to the top, at total elevation gain of 74 metres. It provides some beautiful views of the valley, of lichen covered rocks and, of course, of the wildflowers. Bring water, a snack and a camera (optional). Wear good hiking shoes. Those who wish to bring a picnic lunch may wish to enjoy their lunch near the parking area at the end of the trip. All ages and skill levels welcome. Carpooling possible, please pay driver $7 for gas.
