About the Event

We are excited to partner with The Saskatchewan Science Centre for our PD Day Event where we will be learning about animal habitats and adaptations! We will have both indoor and outdoor activities provided by Nature Regina and the Science Centre. Come join us on Saturday, January 27th from 1:30pm - 3:15pm. This event is free for children ages 6 to 13 and a caregiver (younger siblings welcome to join).  Advance registration is required since there is limited spaces.

Outdoor activities will include nature-based games, nature exploration, and outdoor play in the area outside The Science Centre. We’ll explore and learn more about the wildlife you may not realize live near Wascana Lake! Participants may also have the opportunity to try snowshoeing for a short snowshoe walk if the weather permits!

Afterwards, we will gather at The Science Centre for the Healthy Habitats program, where we will learn about what makes a habitat able to support life, how animals have adapted to the habitats in Saskatchewan, and how we can protect these places in the face of climate change. Activities will include a game that simulates the effects of habitat loss on species, and a chance to view biological specimens native to Saskatchewan to discuss their needs, how the prairies uniquely support them, and how we can help the environment in our daily lives.

A big thank you to the City of Regina, Saskatchewan Science Centre, Sask Outdoors, Nature Sask, and Woodhaven for partnering for this event! The Get Outside! Programs are offered in parks and open spaces around the city to provide opportunities to learn, connect, and play outside!
