We will hike one of the trails, an hour to hour and a half hike, looking for wildlife and wildflowers. We will also look at the marsh, lake and river for birds and visit a nearby wetland that is usually excellent for waterfowl.
Buffalo Pound is a rich area with a high diversity of breeding birds, so I expect we will find interesting birds as well as plants and butterflies.Bring lunch. We will eat lunch together at one of the picnic sites. Also bring water as the prairie can feel hot and dry. Finally note that a park pass will be required. Season and day passes will be available at the park gate.
Meet at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum parking lot, arriving at Buffalo Pound at 10 am.
