About the Event
How do we secure the right seed, in the right place, at the right time to restore prairie ecosystems?
This question guided Renny Grilz during his Nuffield Canada Agricultural Scholarship travels, which took him across Europe, Brazil, and the United States to study native seed networks, seed banking programs, and restoration initiatives.
In this presentation, Renny will share stories from his visits from large-scale seed producers in Germany, to the Millennium Seed Bank in the UK, to U.S. seed strategies driving landscape-scale restoration.
Through these experiences, he has gathered key lessons and recommendations that can be applied to Western Canada: strengthening collaboration among seed producers, building infrastructure for a regional seedbank, and aligning native seed supply with growing conservation and climate adaptation needs.
