About the Event
Fall 2022 Northern Prairie Biodiversity Challenge: Regina and Area
Observations entered through iNaturalist will be automatically entered during the above mentioned time period within the Regina and Area boundary.
We're having a competition among participating municipalities to see who can get the most participants, observations, and species!
To help our the Regina and Area group, log your obsersavtions at:
https://inaturalist.ca/projects/2022-fall-northern-prairie-biodiversity-challenge-regina-and-area
We encourage people to set personal challenges and goals as well. Some suggestions that people may want to strive for are:
- See if you can post 50 species each day, or over the 4 days
- How many species can you find in your yard?
- How many kingdoms or phylums (technically 'phyla') of life can you observe?
All observations made to iNaturalist within the boundary and time frame are automatically tabulated in the results for each region, not including captive or cultivated organisms. Casual observations (those of captive or cultivated organisms, and/or those without supporting photos or sound files) are allowed, but if they account for more than 5% of your observations, then your results will be recalculated to exclude ALL of your casual observations, for the purposes of the competition.
Reporting dates: Observations must be uploaded to iNaturalist by midnight Sunday September 25.
Preliminary results: Gathered after midnight Sunday September 25.
Final results: Tabulated as of midnight Sunday October 23. We're allowing another 4 weeks here for people to make identifications.
